I have continued to battle this company since our return from Costa Rica. Their customer service agent insists while stressing their dedication to customer service, that I declined the insurance and they would never upsell their products. This is a blatant lie. We were told emphatically that not taking their insurance was NOT an option. This was after being on an overnight flight with no sleep. The paperwork I was given did not have a place for me to decline and when I specifically asked about declining and let the agent know my credit card would indeed cover any issues- she stated that unless the policy listed Costa Rica by name and was for over a $1 million (whether US dollar or Colones I do not know)

I rented a car for my daughter and when she went to pick it up she was charged $350. more. Because my daughters car had broke down we didnt know how long we would need the car. We took the care back after two days and they would not refund my daughters $350. Because she only had a debit card, not a credit card. What kind of a policy is that? My daughter cant afford to lose that much money. Its sad that you wouldnt help her! Also when I called to talk to someone I was treated very rude and the person hung up on me! Terrible customer service!!

Safety and Maintenance Issues - BEWARE

I recently rented a car from this company for approximately 18 days, in Costa Rica. During my journey, I was informed by another motorist that the car's brake light was malfunctioning. Prioritizing safety, especially since I had a road trip planned the next day, I exchanged the car in San Jose. To my dismay, the replacement car experienced a COMPLETE brake failure during a road trip, while I was with my family. This wasn't an issue like brake fibers overheating; it was a total malfunction, which is deeply alarming. Using only the parking brake, I maneuvered us to the nearest safe location and immediately reported the situation. The response from customer service was woefully inadequate. I made multiple calls seeking assistance, only to be left without a clear response on when the replacement car would arrive. As a result, I missed an essential appointment, which I had scheduled from the USA. Most distressing of all, my family, including a 7-year-old child, were stranded in the mountains for 5 hours, extending into the night. Further adding to my incredulity, when I explicitly requested a different car model, due to the grave risks experienced in the Nissan VERSA, I was provided with the SAME model. To top off an already abysmal experience, this last car had a malfunctioning door sensor. While this might seem minor in comparison, it serves as further evidence of the insufficient quality and maintenance of their fleet. I can't help but seriously question the maintenance standards of their vehicles. My decision to trust ECONOMY car rental as an alternative to my regular provider has unfortunately been met with grave disappointment. Finally, in their "customer service response" they tried to put the blame on me and suggested that a courtesy given by their agent (half tank of gas) and also not charging me FOR REPLACING their previous two broken cars was enough. They look as a reasonably priced and serious company, but you'll pay more in the end due to inconveniences, insurance, etc.

Worst and abusive service

At the time of reservation, said one price, but later the insurance that we need to have according to them is more expensive than other companies, I agreed in the cost regardless they didn't honor Amex coverage. When the car was returned, no one at the office and I was over charged close to 100 dollars more. It wasn't my fault they don't have night shift, car returned at 5 am

Aloha , I rented a car from you on Priceline and put my arrival time at 8pm, when I got to the curb no buses came so I called to find out that office closed at 8 pm stuck at the airport. I had to rent another car for double the money please do the right thing and reimburse my money you charged my for not showing up to a closed establishment

I didn’t get anywhere with Economy rent a car or Expedia. I contacted my CC company to dispute the charges. The CC company reimbursed me for the full amount.

I reserved a car for my trip to Ft Lauderdale. When I arrived at the rental car agency, 2 sets of customers that were ahead of me were told they didnt have their cars available. When it was my turn, they also told me that they didnt have a car available. This was at midnight on Friday night 10/7/22. I asked about a refund and they said I would get one. Its been 9 days and I havent heard from them. Ive called Expedia and economy with no luck

BEWARE! Economy rented me a car online for pickup at Oaxaca Airport, where they haven't been operating out of FOR YEARS! I had to rebook with Hertz on the spot for a significant amount more due to the same-day rental. Somehow, they charged me even though they did not exist at the location?????? I have been trying to get my money back for almost 2 months and keep getting bounced around on the phone only to be told that refunds were only handled through emails????? This company clearly does not know what the feck they are doing, but is well versed on not refunding people their money. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

Expedia advertised this company rental : enhansed cleaning, unlimited milage @ $40. per day, I rented for 4 days($160,00) how can this cost $320.89 1. I reserved a car through Priceline (confirmation # PPRLA1051C58) on January 31 to be picked up on February 18 in Puerto Vallarta MX. Nobody was in the office. I called the number on the window and someone came out 20 minutes later. He said Sorry we have no cars available. That charge is still on my Mastercard. I need you to send me a refund for a minimum of the $160.87 I paid. I had to go to another dealership paying more to them than this. The four of us hade to hold two suitcases on our lap due the size of the car available. Please respond to this soon. Calling your customer care number gave me no help and told me to email you.
